Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing our world, transforming how businesses operate and interact with customers. As someone who graduated from university in 2005 with a degree in “intelligent systems,” I could not have imagined back then how these technologies would develop. In fact, my path into AI began by chance. I was initially interested in computer-related professions, so I enrolled in Automated Control Systems. In my fifth year we were offered a specialization in AI, and it seemed like an interesting direction to me.
My thesis was on “An intelligent system for assessing coal quality.” It was a simplified model that was essentially an algorithm and used a knowledge base only indirectly. Still, that experience was an important step in my understanding of the potential of AI.
Today the situation has changed radically. Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of our lives, helping automate processes, analyze huge volumes of data, and improve the quality of services. Moreover, I now actively use AI in my work and solve many tasks with its help. Even this article, for example, was structured using ChatGPT.
Personal AI assistants: a new era of interaction
The next stage of technological development, which in my opinion will become reality within the next five years, is personal AI assistants integrated into our mobile devices. Such assistants will be able not only to answer questions but also to fully carry out tasks related to a person's everyday needs. Imagine being able to tell your device: “Find me brown boots that match my preferences, cost no more than a certain amount, and can be delivered to my home.” The assistant will study your tastes and budget and offer exactly what you will like. This is a new level of personalization that will open up enormous opportunities for businesses in retail, logistics, and customer service.
Which industries will keep growing regardless of AI?
Despite all this, there are industries whose development will proceed independently of AI adoption. These areas are tied either to human needs that cannot be automated or to unique approaches that require emotional involvement or a high degree of creativity.
-
Artisan production—making unique handmade goods, where an individual approach is valued.
-
Emotion-centered services—psychology, coaching, art therapy, and fields related to personal development.
-
Agribusiness—farms producing organic, environmentally friendly food.
-
The event industry—creating unique events that require personal participation and emotional engagement.
-
Creative professions—music, painting, literature, where the role of inspiration and human perception remains key.
These areas will continue to grow, since the demand for individuality, emotional connection, and sustainability only increases every year.
Conclusion
Artificial intelligence is an engine of progress that keeps opening new horizons for business. Successful development, however, is possible only through a harmonious combination of technology and the human factor. I believe we need to embrace this new technological cycle and prepare to build our lives with the development of technology in mind. The future belongs to innovations that can adapt to our needs while leaving room for uniqueness and emotional connection. Businesses that manage to integrate these principles will come out ahead in the coming decades.
